After breakfast, we will join our introductory tour of the city, commencing with an immersion into the teeming Chinatown area. Once the center of trade for the Chinese merchants who settled in Bangkok in the 18th century, it is now a photographer's delight and one of the most fascinating districts in Bangkok. Chinatown has maintained a unique identity, with many elements unchanged for decades, and strolling along its main thoroughfares guarantee an amazing experience. We will pass by the major landmarks of the district, walk to its main temples, discovered its shopping streets while smelling freshly-made street snacks. From Chinatown, we will gently reach the colorful Indian market where the best fabrics in Bangkok can be found. Pahurat Market, as it is called, is largely visited by textile merchants who are looking for the best of cotton and silk. From here, we continue to visit the amazing flower market, where you will be overwhelmed by the incredible colors and fragrances of the orchids, lilies, roses and many other flowers on sale.
After this great discovery, we make our way to one of the most stunning temples in Bangkok. Wat Pho, hosts the largest reclining Buddha in the country, more than 160-foot in length. The complex also incorporates the largest collection of Buddha images and is known as the first center of public education in the country. The impressive sanctuaries and numerous chapels are definitely worth a visit as lots of them come directly from the sites of Ayutthaya and Sukothai. Wat Po is also the place mandated to teach and preserve the roots of traditional Thai medicine, including Thai massage, and there is a Thai massage school within the site.
